it is in 暴龍超科 ( tyrannosauroidea ). the cladogenesis concert is that if the ancestor process a gene for a phenotype, say feather, the offspring is inherited on the gene. so unless there is a mutuation and natural selection favourite that particular mutuation for the gene and give rise to a new tyrannosaurus clade, tyrannosaururs is very likely to have feature. given that the featured maniraptors ( raptors, birds ) split with tyrannosauroidea approximately in middle or lower jurassic, and a member of tyrannosauroidea process feature, it is very likely that the ancestors of tyrannosaurus is featured.
